Recycling programs contain the following items: Aluminum cans, steel cans, glass bottles, plastic beverage containers, detergent bottles, milk jugs, newspaper, old corrugated containers, and various other papers generated by homes, offices, and institutions. This material is consolidated and delivered to Blue Mountain Recycling’s processing facility.  Dealing with the disposal of these materials is the last step in a complete recycling program.

Aluminum Cans
Blue Mountain Recycling has an exclusive relationship with Anheuser-Busch.  This company consumes the cans for conversion into new sheet for production and stamping of new aluminum cans.

Steel Cans
Blue Mountain Recycling is currently under a long-term supply contract Tube City, Inc. who supplies U.S. Steel with it’s raw materials for the automotive industry, as well as its tin sheeting needs for the production of domestic appliances.

Glass Bottles
Blue Mountain Recycling converts virtually all of the glass produced from curbside recycling programs into ASHTO 8, and ASHTO 10 grade aggregate products. This material is used in numerous applications including filter medium, erosion control, custom asphalt blends, reduced weight concrete mixes etc. The unique properties of glass provide the user with a lightweight alternative that outperforms traditional aggregate material.

Plastic Beverage Containers
All plastic beverage containers are made from Polyethylene- Terephthalate (PET). PET is a valuable resource to the carpeting and clothing industries. The PET bottles are washed and ground to pellet form. These pellets are melted and loomed into fiber for re-use. Blue Mountain Recycling supplies Mohawk Ind., Shaw Carpet Co., and Wellman Industries.

Detergent Bottles (Pigmented)
Detergent bottles (High Density Polyethylene) are a fine substitute for virgin resins. The are ground into pellets and used for any application that requires other than naturally pigmented plastic to be used for forming plastic parts such as, park benches, detergent bottles, plastic car parts and toys. Blue Mountain Recycling supplies Detergent bottles to KW Plastics, Ensley Corporation and Trex Plastic Lumber Company.

Milk Jugs
Milk jugs are made from HDPE that has not been pigmented. This grade of plastic has more range of use than detergent bottles because milk jugs can be converted to any color desired by the end-user. Its greater range of use and low supply creates a greater value for the supplier.  Blue Mountain Recycling supplies KW Plastics, Ensley Corporation and Trex Plastic Lumber Company.

Newspaper
Curbside generated newspaper consists of the entire circular delivered to the home. This would include the newspaper, inserts, and magazine stock. Newspaper is a superior substitute to virgin wood and can be re-used to produce newspaper type products at a fraction of the cost of virgin. There are three global consumers of recycled newsprint that offer Blue Mountain Recycling long-term security of movement and use, Bowater, Smurfitt-Stone and Abitibi-Consolodated .

Old Corrugated Containers
Old Corrugated Containers (OCC) are a valuable resource and alternative to virgin wood. Liner and Medium (the outer and inner layers of a box) has increased and maintained value over the past three years. This is due to the recent consolidation of the world box producers. Blue Mountain Recycling supplies Solvay Paperboard, Smurfit-Stone, and Canusa Corp.

Office Paper
Blue Mountain Recycling is the largest office waste processing facility in the Mid Atlantic region. We have maintained our marketing practice with office paper by securing a long term exclusive contract for our region with Kimberly-Clark for all volume generated from our facilities.
